I played the original Vegas on the PC, which happened to be a big disappointment as the community died out really quickly, I have opted to try it on the Xbox 360 this time. However with my own 360 been broke, I'm off to Tuto's later to try it out on his (sort of a compromise for him taking my HDD). All been well this version will work better than the original, which did feature allot of bugs sadly as it was a good game, and ill be able to get into the swing of things. Its been a while since I played competitively on the Xbox (last time was back in Halo 2, and a little in Halo 3) but hoping Vegas can get me back into the swing of things fairly quickly. Ill post up my thoughts on the game most likely tomorrow.
My map hasn't changed a great deal since yesterday, and probably wont receive much love today either. Ill be cracking on with it later on this week. I happened to play Call of Duty 2 the other day, I totally forgot how good a game it was. My only problem with it however was the fact that I'm so used to Hardcore I couldn't get into the swing of one shot not killing someone. So i ended up back on CoD 4 with Tuto and discovered the power of the Deadly Silence perk. Now I'm off for a few quick games of Quake 3 then to play Vegas 2 all been well.

First Glimpse
Just a short post for now of how the map is coming along. Ill update a longer post later.
The first image is of the Helicopter crash site, while the second is a brief look at how the forest area will probably look.

Call of Duty 4 Mod Tools
So I've finally got my hands on the CoD 4 mod tools and decided to open up the map editor. First thing I did was in typical me style manage to crash it, which is where I discovered it is still a copy of Q3Radiant (Thought they would have renamed it at least). However upon loading the editor there are quite a few new buttons and allot of the old stuff has changed (such as selecting your texture). Now the last game I mapped for fully was Quake 3, so the difference in detail and modeling in maps has changed a fair bit. My first attempt was to remake a custom map for Counter Strike Source that we used to play allot (blackhawkdown_s for anyone who played CS). This is where I noticed scaling is allot different for a realistic game compared to Quake 3. My first attempt lead to huge buildings way out of proportion, yet would have been ace for strafe jumping around. This lead me to decide to get to know the editor and scaling better and then start on my own map.
I finally decided I wanted to settle on a Forest style map where the SAS are in Russian territory searching for a downed Marine Helicopter that was on a recon mission (hey it explains the Marine helicopter I chose). So far I've been playing with alpha blending and the foliage, which is allot more in depth than what I'm used to making on Quake 3. So far it's gone well and I finally managed to get a decent area around the helicopter. Ill be uploading some screen shots later on. Also for any gamers out there with CoD 4 join us on our server. We play Hardcore rules, 1.5 patch installed and are on most nights, IP address is below.
